Kristalia 1085 Edition Dining Chairs | Set of 6

A set of six 1085 Edition dining chairs by Bartoli Design for Kristalia, Italy. The seat and back are cut from extra-thick, full-grain leather from Presot®, a traditional Italian tannery, joined with a decorative hand-stitched seam and set on a solid oak frame. A stainless steel tie-rod beneath the seat, borrowed from sailing rigging, keeps the leather taut and can be adjusted as it softens over time.

Vegetable-tanned leather has no surface coating, so it builds a patina with use. After around 10 years these chairs have deepened to a warm tan, with the oak mellowed to honey.

MATERIALS & COLOUR Natural Presot® vegetable-tanned full-grain leather in tan, solid European oak frame, black lacquered steel and stainless steel tie-rod details.

CARE Wipe with a dry, absorbent cloth only. Avoid damp cloths, conditioners and direct sun or heat, which can darken the leather.

CONDITION The leather shows extensive natural variation in colour and clear signs of use. There are water marks and drip spots, most visible on the backs, along with handling marks, minor scuffs and some darker patches on the seats. This is characteristic of uncoated vegetable-tanned hide, which will continue to soften, crease and deepen in colour with use, becoming increasingly individual.

Kristalia describes wrinkles, scars, stains and streaks as natural characteristics of the hide and part of its individuality. These chairs will suit someone who appreciates the character of natural leather as it ages, rather than someone looking for an immaculate, uniform finish.
